This week I am sharing a post I originally came across on my Facebook feed. The author is Ann Voskamp (you can check her out here). Ann talks about Thanksgiving being the beginning of the holiday season, and what it’s purpose is within the Bible. As a Spoonie I struggle more often then I would like to admit with what I have, and don’t have. I find it hard to be thankful for a body that refuses to do it’s job most days and while I am beyond grateful for the people I have in my life, my beautiful home, music and sunshine each of these things are touched in their own way by my pain.
Anyway, this post really moved me, so I wanted to share it with all of you. Read it slow, let it sink in. It feels real good.
“Hey Soul? did you see what just happened there?
We just passed through the gateway that is Thanksgiving & into the holidays & all the joy our hearts can hold!
Makes sense — that the gate into the holidays [holy-days] would be Thanksgiving…
‘Enter into His presence through the gate of THANKSGIVING — & in His presence is fullness of JOY’ Ps.100:4, Ps16:11
Because the deal is? When the holidays get hard — just take a deep breath & remember how you always get into the holidays & JOY — through that gateway: Thanksgiving.
Hold on through the holidays:
JOY IS ALWAYS POSSIBLE — because there is always, always something to be THANKFUL FOR!”
I’d love to hear what you’re thankful for.
